Christmas does happen to be the time of year I love most. So this morning I decided to start some christmas artwork. Starting from scratch, with no brushes or premade artwork of other peoples work, I created this christmas tree. I drew a basic shape and used the Tool Effect > Distort & Transform > Roughen to create my branches and played about with opacity and then added some baubles and some tinsle and christmas tree lights. I then took a more cartoony style to create the trees backgound. Im very happy with the way this artwork tunred out to be honest, as I think it looks quite unique.
Id love to hear peoples thoughts.
I used this tutorial to help me learn to create my christmas tree:

Finally convinced my lovely fella to buy me a graphics tablet and oooo its great. It’s the Wacom Bamboo One, so just their budget one to be learning with for now. It’s taking a while to get used to mind you, but it really does lift alot of limitations. Ive just been playing around this evening with it, to try and get the hang of it and here’s another bit of art I managed to produce. I think each piece is getting a little bit better than the one before so fingers crossed soon I can start producing alot more detailed and complex images.
I’m also off to the library Tuesday, what better way to learn graphical design than read a huge book from cover to cover
Enjoy the work I hope guys.
FREE CLIPART
Well the last few days I have been messing around with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop trying to create more artwork to offer here for free on my blog. Here is the first lot of my cartoon clipart. There are so many websites out there offering the same sort of free clipart to its users. To be honest I get fed up with seeing the same clipart everywhere so I decided to offer my own free clipart. I Love cartoony styles so here is some fun free clipart. Feel free to use these for free, for private or commercial use or to edit. If you do list these in a collection you must list us as the Author AND DO NOT try and pass these off as your own work please, these are done by my free hand and its not nice to steal other peoples work ![]()
Enjoy!
Well this is my second attempt today. I’m getting the hang of it I think
I just need to suss out what all the little icons in Adobe illustrator do he he. I love the pinks and black in this one. I think they go really well together and make the abstract effect work well.
Not bad for a days work I think :) I’m going to keep messing around tonight, and see what effects I can create with the different tools in Illustrator. One thing I have learnt today… Is the best way to learn is get the correct tools and just keep trying until you get the effect you like.
Well, this morning I booted up Adobe Illustrator and following a fantastic tutorial I created my first bit of Abstract art. Its nothing fantastic but im really happy with the way it turned out. Ive got a long way to go and still so much to learn but today I realised how easy Illustrator can be to work with.
I’d like to thank webdesigner wall for their fantastic tutorial.
